Hound Point is a marine terminal off a rocky headland the Firth of Forth in Scotland. The mid-river berth for oil tankers allows the offloading of the cargo to a pipeline and onto land for later processing up-river at Grangemouth. The pipeline is carried by a series of steel trusses over piers in the river.
CaSE were contracted to design a moveable access platform to facilitate the repainting of the truss spans from berth to shore. We designed the platform and weatherproof enclosure and the rails fixed to the permanent structure. The platform employed a proprietary system.
