Your Role:
A General Manager New Zealand is one of the most senior positions in the company, with responsibility for overseeing the company’s performance with respect to finances, quality, reputation and culture.
You are expected to give the organisation strategic guidance to ensure short, medium and long- term goals are achieved, create opportunities and navigate through any issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining positive and trust-based relations with business partners, shareholders, clients and authorities.
- Develop and expand the business unit using your existing network and the company’s network to create opportunities both in New Zealand.
- Overseeing the company's business operations, financial performance, investments, and ventures.
- Work with state managers and country managers overseas to provide technical assistance, introductions and support.
- Attendance and/or presenting at the quarterly updates at the Executive Meeting.
- Supervising, mentoring, guiding and delegating to your team, including ensuring the ongoing training and development of your team to help meet organisational goals and maintaining the positive culture within the Group.
- Ensuring company policies, governance requirements and legal guidelines are clearly communicated and adhered to.
- Identifying, assessing, managing and resolving problematic developments and situations.
- Building and enhancing the company's public profile at events, speaking engagements, media and online activities.
- Developing (and presenting to the Board or key stakeholders) an Annual Business Plan.
- Clearly identifiable goals and/or targets for the company to meet each month, each quarter and annually.
Minimum Requirements, Skills and Attitude:
- Preferably be registered as Chartered Engineer.
- Some site experience and a practical attitude to solving construction related problems.
- Experience in complex structural engineering, such as complex bridge, rail, tunnel, road or heavy industry projects.
- Complex methodologies.
- Structural degree with sound to advanced ability in structural steel and concrete design. Good understanding of structural systems and load path based on first principles.
- Familiar with Standard Design Codes of Practice.
- Competency with 3D structural analysis software.
- Proactive problem-solving capability.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all facets of work.
- Computer literacy including MS Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and report writing skills.
- Works well in a team.
- Honest and trustworthy, possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
