We are currently looking to build an experienced team based out of our new Houston, Texas
Responsibilities
- Undertake full Structural Design duties across all facets of the company’s engineering services under the general area of Specialised Temporary Works Design.
- Working closely on temporary works schemes with clients and other professionals
- Work within the Design Team to conceptualise structural solutions, embrace agreed concept, and further develop structural designs & documentation to required level of completion.
- Acquire/reinforce/expand on knowledge of required areas of expertise.
- Efficiently utilise, and where required undergo training on specialist structural design software including current and future.
- Provide as-required design deliverables such as design briefs, return briefs, reports, calculations, design-driven construction sequence statements.
- Coordinate with the design team and transfer information clearly to drafter/detailer. Flexibility due to time difference with other offices is required.
- Ensure, check that design intent is clearly translated onto drawings without potential for misunderstandings.
- Be responsible for your design and associated design documentation, ensuring timely flow of information, and to ensure design-related issues are resolved efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Always work to minimise design risk and ensure all design is robust.
- Developing design ideas using CAD software
- Making sure that projects meet legal guidelines, environmental directives, and health and safety requirements
- Preparing bids for tenders
- Giving progress reports to clients and senior managers
- Following company Integrated Management System
The successful candidate will possess:
- Civil or Structural engineer with Chartered Engineer status
- USA PE/SE is beneficial
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in temporary works design
- Sound ability in Bridge Design is an advantage
- Experienced with relevant Design Codes of Practice.
- Demonstrate competency with 3D structural analysis software
- Computer literacy including MS Outlook/Word/Excel/ Sharepoint
