The Newport Transporter Bridge is a transporter bridge that crosses the River Usk in Newport, Southeast Wales. The £10m project involved a feasibility study, including program, budget price, and options report for the full refurbishment of the Newport Transporter Bridge.
As Contracting Consultant, CaSE reviewed condition surveys and concept design for permanent works refurbishment. This report contained construction requirements and methods information and a cost estimate for the overall budgeting of the works. The report was used to obtain National Lottery Heritage Funding and included in the tender specification when the scheme went to market.
CaSE had previously also carried out a detailed planning exercise for ABUK, in early contractor involvement, to specify major craneage operations that would be required during the refurbishment, however, ABUK has since ceased trading. CaSE reviewed condition surveys and concept design for permanent works refurbishment, which then allowed CaSE to produce a constructability report for a full refurbishment to obtain National Lottery Heritage Funding. CaSE also created a detailed planning exercise for ABUK, in early contractor involvement, to specify major craneage operations that would be required during the refurbishment.
