Sydney Metro is Australia’s biggest public transport project, with a project value $15.5b. From the northwest, the metro rail is being extended under Sydney Harbour, through to the new underground city stations and beyond to the southwest. Sydney will have 31 metro railway stations and a 66km standalone metro railway system, revolutionizing the way Australia’s biggest city travels.
Case provided the main contractor John Holland CPB Ghella JV an Area Quality Manger to oversee the works at Barangaroo station and precinct. The works included were split into 3 main parts.
The Station includes excavation, temporary support, anchors waterproofing, permanent concrete cassette works.
The Cross over Cavern includes the excavation of the temporary and cavern including temporary support, the permanent lining of the cross over cavern including waterproofing. And the TBM tunnels under the harbour include excavation using a slurry TBM, installation of concrete segments, excavation of cross passages and defect repairs and closeout.
